How is Wifarer different from GPS?

Wifarer works inside, where GPS can’t function. Wifarer uses WIFI to locate you, whereas GPS uses satellites.

How does Wifarer locate me in the venue?

Well, let’s just say it’s pretty complicated. And proprietary. It has taken a pod of geeks with advanced degrees in engineering, computer science and math a long time to figure it out.

Does Wifarer provide location-based services (LBS)?

Yes. Because Wifarer can pinpoint your exact location within the venue, it automatically knows to provide video, audio, image, and text about nearby locations.

Does Wifarer have a search function?

Yes. You can search the venue directory by location, category, or coupons.

What kind of content is available?

That depends on what kind of venue you’re in. If you’re in a shopping center, you may get coupons, retailer information, or event schedules. If you’re in a museum, you may get video of an artist at work, critical commentary on an object, or tour information. If you’re at a trade show, you’ may get marketing information from exhibitors, or perhaps a schedule of seminars. If you are at an airport, you’ll find out if your flight is late, and where your departure gate is.

How many venues have Wifarer?

Wifarer is the default app for indoor navigation in large, complex venues around the world. Venues recognize the value of having an app that users already have on their smartphones, with a UI they are familiar with. Check out our growing list of global venues , and sort by location or venue type.

Can I bookmark locations?

Yes. Think of Wifarer as a browser for the real world – you can search for and bookmark a favorite place, where your car is parked, or a spot to meet your friends. You can send bookmarked places to your friends to make meeting up easier, or to help you return later.

What is the “take me there” button?

Wifarer’s “take me there” button draws a path from where you are currently standing to where you want to go.
